Deals on "As Seen on TV" Products

QuickRewards recently added a new shopping category called As Seen on TV and it includes some of the nifty gadgets you've probably seen advertised on TV recently including the Pocket Fisherman, Pedi Paws, and the Ped Egg.  You'll get QR cash back of up to $7 depending on the product just by shopping through QR instead of "picking up the phone and ordering NOW!"  ;)

But do these types of products really work?

This month's Popular Mechanics magazine (which you can pick up through QRs link to Best Deal Magazines for $24 less 10% cash back) has a big article discussing the products they tested and which ones lived up to the hype.

QuickRewards doesn't list any of the products they reviewed poorly.  We include some products they didn't review at all.  But two of the products Popular Mechanics specifically mentioned as being worth it included:

Aqua Globes (a set of four is about $20 shipped after $3 QR cashback):  You can see a video on how it works on the site -- make sure you place your order through the site and not by calling the 1-800 number if you want to get QR credit!  Popular Mechanics says it's "worth it," but reminds people to not just fill it and forget it because it DOES have to be refilled about every two weeks!  They suggest you use a small stick or tool (I'd think a toothpick or straw might work) to de-clog the "stem" before attempting to refill it.

Hercules Hooks (a set of 20 plus a laser level is about $23 shipped after $3 QR cashback):  Popular Mechanics says, "...if you have an urge to decorate but own no tools, Hercules Hooks work just fine."  Just follow the directions!  They had no problems when using a hook to hang items that weighed 16 and 41 pounds, respectively, but when they ignored the package directions that said to use multiple hooks on items over 40 pounds and tried to hang a 68-pound lawnmower with just one hook -- well, disaster ensued.  So, follow the directions and you should be fine!

We're checking into some additional sources for other As Seen on TV products so we can offer some of the other items Popular Mechanics reviewed well!  Meanwhile, if you buy any of these items, and you'd like to share your experiences in a Comment, it'd sure help your fellow QR members!

The Fisher-Price Transform & Go Rocket was $20, but is now $10 shipped to store!  I think this is a Little Einsteins toy although the description doesn't say so.

My mom is homebound due to a disability and she watches QVC almost 24/7.  She can tell me which host is having a bad day, who slipped and fell at 3am when nobody else was watching, etc.  She has favorite hosts!  It's too funny, it's like the QVC people are her friends.  But ya know what?  Despite the fact she can't go to the mall, Mom's always got fabulous jewelry and cute clothes to wear thanks to QVC!
